How a coin’s dollar price is built

A coin’s dollar price starts with its live spot value — the current metal value for the amount of precious metal in the piece. A scarcity premium is then added to that spot value; together, they form the coin price and the displayed customer total.

Grade
The certified grade records the coin’s condition and helps explain its scarcity premium.
Holder
The holder is the protective certification case tied to the graded coin.
Label / certifier
The label and certifier identify the grading service and designation recorded for the piece.
Population
The recorded population gives context for how many matching certified pieces are known.
